What does LPFP stand for?
LPFP stands for Low Pressure fuel pump. This pump is usually located in or near the fuel tank and is responsible for pumping fuel from the tank to the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP).
The LPFP acts as a ‘pre-stage’ in the fuel system and ensures that sufficient fuel is always supplied to the engine – at a constant, low pressure.
Why is an LPFP important?
A properly functioning LPFP is essential for the operation of modern engines with direct injection and turbochargers. Particularly in tuned cars, where fuel consumption and turbo pressure increase, the standard LPFP may be too weak.
