Although the original Intercooler system functions well on a standard vehicle, problems often arise as soon as power is increased, for example through a software optimisation. The original Ford Intercooler radiator then struggles to keep coolant temperatures under control.
When cooling capacity is insufficient, Intake temperatures rise, causing the engine management system to throttle back power to protect the engine. This results in a loss of power and less consistent performance during sporty driving.
Airtec’s solution consists of a larger charge cooler radiator with a 70 mm thick core, which is 30 mm larger than the original version. This increases the capacity from 5.5 litres to 9.7 litres, representing an impressive 76 per cent increase in volume.
Thanks to the increased capacity, the intercooler system is much better able to control temperatures during prolonged use, ensuring that power remains consistently available.
The radiator is fully plug-and-play and utilises all the original mounting points and connections. No modifications to the car are required.
