The 034 Motorsport billet aluminium DSG Breather Catch Can kit for the Audi A3, S3 and RS3 8Y replaces the small original plastic breather and prevents transmission oil from being forced out and splashing around the engine compartment. When the DSG gets hot, particularly when using launch control, DSG oil often escapes via the transmission’s breather hose, causing the underside of the bonnet and the engine bay to become covered in oil.
This Catch Can solves the problems associated with the original vent: the system can breathe freely whilst oil escaping via the vent hose is collected and recirculated back to the DSG. This keeps the engine bay clean and prevents oil stains.
The Catch Can housing is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminium and black anodised for a durable and discreet finish. Internally, a stainless steel baffle plate prevents transmission oil from escaping the system. The external mounting brackets are powder-coated to resist corrosion. The original plastic vent hose is replaced by a silicone vent hose with an 8 mm internal diameter, whilst retaining the original connector on the gearbox. All mounting points are the original ones, making installation straightforward and eliminating the need for drilling or cutting.
