Airtec Motorsport Stage 1 front-mount Intercooler kit for the Ford Focus MK1 RS, developed for power outputs of up to approximately 375 hp. Thanks to the efficient 70 mm high-flow core, this kit not only delivers lower Intake temperatures but also faster turbo response.
The original charge cooler system works well on standard vehicles, but with increased boost pressure and tuning, coolant temperatures rise rapidly. As a result, Air Charge Temperatures (ACT) can rise above 55 °C, leading to a loss of power and potentially engine damage.
The Airtec Stage 1 Intercooler replaces the original system with an efficient front-mount Intercooler setup that drastically reduces Intake temperatures. This ensures that power remains consistently available and allows the engine to safely deliver higher performance.
The kit utilises a 70 mm high-flow Intercooler core and comes complete with aluminium Charge Pipes, silicone hoses, stainless steel hose clamps, a battery relocation plate and all necessary fitting materials.
Installation takes an average of 4 to 6 hours and requires no grinding, welding or drilling. Nor does the turbo housing need to be modified or rotated.
Please note: this kit is designed for use with a K&N Gen2 Intake or similar system. The original airbox cannot be retained.
Please note: all Intercooler kits are supplied with a dump valve connection. If this is not used, it can be sealed with a blind plug.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose a front-mount Intercooler instead of the original charge cooler?
At higher boost pressures, the original charge cooler system becomes saturated more quickly, causing Intake temperatures to rise and resulting in a loss of power.
How much power can this intercooler handle?
This Stage 1 Intercooler is designed for vehicles with standard power output up to approximately 375 hp.
Does the car need to be ground down or welded?
No, installation requires no grinding, welding or drilling and can be carried out at home.
Can I keep the original airbox?
No, this kit is designed for use with a K&N Gen2 Intake or a similar aftermarket Intake system.
