The Airtec Motorsport Stage 2 Intercooler for the Ford Focus RS Mk2 has been developed for drivers who demand maximum cooling performance from their tuned 2.5 turbo. Thanks to a larger Intercooler core and improved airflow, this upgrade offers a significant step up from both the original Intercooler and the Airtec Stage 1 version.
To prevent power loss during prolonged use, this intercooler utilises a massive 65 mm high-flow core. The core is almost twice as high as the original Intercooler and almost 100 mm longer, resulting in an impressive 127% increase in frontal area compared to the OEM system.
The integrated Air Ram Scoop channels airflow directly through the intercooler core to further increase cooling capacity. Combined with the smooth-flow end tanks and the integrated air guide, this creates an extremely efficient airflow that ensures lower Intake temperatures and more consistent performance during sporty road use and track use.
During testing, the performance of the Stage 2 Intercooler was directly compared with the Airtec Stage 1 version. Despite a higher inlet air temperature of 149°C, the Stage 2 managed to reduce the outlet temperature to just 26°C, compared to 34°C with the Stage 1 Intercooler.
In addition, a gain of 20 pk in the mid-range and 40 nm of extra torque was measured, solely due to the switch from the Stage 1 to the Stage 2 Intercooler.

To make the most of the larger Intercooler’s performance, this kit is complemented by the Airtec Motorsport 2.5-inch Big Boost Pipes. These pipes replace the more restrictive OEM pipework and ensure a greater airflow between the turbo, Intercooler and engine. Thanks to the larger diameter, resistance within the system is reduced, allowing the turbo to operate more efficiently and the engine to respond more quickly to throttle input.
