The Airtec Motorsport Stage 3 Intercooler Kit for the Ford Focus RS Mk2 has been developed for the most extreme projects and is one of the most powerful bolt-on Intercooler solutions available for this platform. This intercooler utilises a massive 100 mm high-flow Intercooler core, also known by Airtec as the ‘Gobstopper’ due to its exceptional cooling performance.
Whilst the popular Airtec Stage 2 Intercooler has already proven itself as the go-to choice for cars producing over 400 pk, the Stage 3 has been specifically developed for genuine 500+ pk builds. The development of this kit took more than ten months to achieve the perfect balance between airflow, cooling capacity and fit.
The massive 100 mm Intercooler core is combined with smooth-flow curved end tanks and an integrated Air-Ram Scoop that actively forces airflow through the intercooler core. This keeps Intake temperatures extremely low, even at very high power outputs and under prolonged load.
In addition, the kit comes with a complete 70 mm cold-side system, comprising a 70 mm Intercooler outlet and a three-piece aluminium/silicone cold-side connection that fits perfectly onto the throttle body. This creates a much more efficient airflow towards the engine.
throttle body option: When ordering this intercooler, you must choose between a connection for the original 63 mm throttle body or a connection for an aftermarket 70 mm throttle body. The kit does not include a throttle body. You should therefore check in advance which throttle body is currently fitted to your vehicle and then select the correct option.

During tests on a Focus RS Mk2 with over 600 pk, the Stage 3 delivered impressive results. Simply by replacing the Stage 2 Intercooler with the Stage 3 version, power increased from 594 pk to 632 pk and torque rose from 740 Nm to 814 Nm. In addition, the outlet air temperature dropped from a maximum of 28°C to just 22°C.
Please note: the impressive gain of 37 pk and 73 Nm was achieved on a vehicle with over 600 pk. On vehicles around 400 pk, the power gains will be lower, but the improved cooling capacity will remain clearly noticeable.
Please note: during installation, always ensure there is sufficient clearance between the silicone hose and any sharp edges on the radiator. The hose must be positioned correctly to prevent damage.
