Airtec Motorsport Intercooler upgrade for the Mini Cooper S R53 (supercharged), designed to reduce Intake temperatures and thus maintain stable power output in tuned vehicles. An ECU remap increases turbo pressure, causing Intake temperatures to rise rapidly. This results in a loss of power and additional thermal stress. An upgraded Intercooler reduces these temperatures, helping to maintain power levels and ensuring the engine continues to operate more safely under heavy load.
Airtec has substantiated this with test results on the dynamometer, comparing the standard Intercooler with a 50 mm competitor core and the Airtec 60 mm bar-and-plate core. The results show significantly lower exhaust temperatures from the intercooler and higher peak power when using the Airtec upgrade.

the intercooler is designed as a bolt-on upgrade and requires no drilling. A large air deflector fin helps to direct the airflow through the front section of the intercooler. The kit is completed with a full aluminium air ram scoop, CNC-machined connection flanges and cast aluminium smooth-flow end tanks for optimum airflow.
