The CTS Intercooler FMIC kit for the EA113 and EA888.1 2.0T engines is designed as a drop-in replacement for the original front-mounted Intercooler. This means you can fit the kit without any cutting or modifications to the bumper. The kit fits, amongst others, the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Golf R, Jetta, EOS, Passat, CC, Beetle and Tiguan, as well as the Audi A3, TT and TTS with a 2.0T engine.
The original Intercooler is sufficient at standard boost pressure, but as soon as the boost pressure increases due to an ECU upgrade or chip tuning, the factory Intercooler struggles to keep charge air temperatures under control. Higher charge air temperatures can lead to boost cut and ignition retardation, both of which reduce the car’s power output.
The CTS FMIC uses a high-efficiency bar-and-plate Intercooler core that minimises pressure drop. A lower pressure drop means the turbocharger does not have to work as hard to achieve a given boost pressure. If the turbocharger produces 30 psi of boost pressure whilst the intercooler has a pressure drop of 10 psi, the ECU will only measure 20 psi. With an efficient FMIC like this, the turbocharger needs to work less hard to achieve the desired boost pressure. This is beneficial in two ways: the turbocharger lasts longer due to its more efficient operation, and the air leaving the turbocharger is cooler and denser, resulting in more power on the road.

Does the kit also fit a Tiguan with 4Motion?
The kit fits front-wheel-drive Tiguans from 2009 to 2018 inclusive. For 4MOTION four-wheel-drive cars, modified hoses are required.
What do I need for an Audi TT 2.0T?
For the Audi TT from 2008 to 2015 with the Gen2 valve-lift engine, a turbo outlet pipe and clip from the Golf 6 GTI are required, part numbers 1K0145840R and 1K0145769J.
Does the kit fit every Audi TTS?
No. The kit is not compatible with the original Intercooler with part number 1K0145803P. Please check this on your car before ordering.
