The TTE550 is a modern hybrid turbo upgrade from TheTurboEngineers, developed for the Porsche 930 and 964. This upgrade brings the classic air-cooled turbo engine up to contemporary performance levels using the latest TTE turbo technology. Designed to strike a perfect balance between raw power, rapid turbo response and long-term reliability, delivering power outputs of up to 550 hp.
The original KKK turbo forms the basis, but internally everything has been completely overhauled. The standard compressor design is replaced by a billet-machined 7+7 compressor wheel (65 mm inlet) with advanced geometry, ensuring greater air mass and improved efficiency across a wider rev range. The standard heavy-duty 12-blade turbine is replaced by a specially designed TTE 9-blade high-flow, low-mass turbine (2019 design), which ensures faster Spool-up, lower exhaust gas temperatures and significantly reduced back pressure.
For optimum reliability, the TTE550 utilises the tried-and-tested BWTS bearing system, which guarantees long-term performance at high boost pressures. Each turbocharger is carefully balanced up to 250,000 rpm using TTE’s VSR technology and supplied with an official balance report.
