The TTE650 is a hybrid turbo upgrade from TheTurboEngineers, developed for the Porsche 993 and 996 3.6 engines. For the time being, this upgrade is only available via the ‘Send in your old turbo’ option. The upgrade focuses on delivering more power whilst maintaining quick response at low revs and OEM-like drivability.
For the TTE650, the original impellers are replaced with larger, more efficient TTE billet impellers featuring extended tip technology. On the turbine side, the original BorgWarner K16 turbines are retained, but the blades are carefully shortened to increase gas flow, lower back pressure and reduce exhaust gas temperatures. This is combined with a Motorsport-grade bearing assembly for reliability under higher loads.
The result is a plug-and-play hybrid kit with a potential output of up to 650 PS and rapid boost build-up.
Balancing
Balancing is crucial for durability and performance. All TTE650 turbos are first balanced at low speed across multiple planes up to 2,800 rpm. The complete CHRA is then high-speed VSR-balanced up to 250,000 rpm on TTE’s in-house VSR machine. Each turbo is supplied with a numbered balance test result certificate.
