The TTE6XX VTG is the next step in the evolution following the tried-and-tested TTE580 VTG and has been developed for Porsche 718 models featuring Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG). This upgrade retains the exceptionally fast response of the original VTG turbo, whilst significantly increasing power potential thanks to a larger, higher-flow compressor combined with an optimised 9-blade exhaust turbine.
We use the original BorgWarner VTG turbocharger as a basis, which is completely re-engineered by TheTurboEngineers. The standard compressor is replaced by a TTE 7+7-blade billet compressor, a design that has already proven itself in other TTE upgrades, delivering over 600 hp. At the same time, we fit a larger high-flow 9-blade turbine, which, despite its larger size, remains low in mass to ensure rapid Spool-up and low back pressure.
The result is a VTG turbo that responds more quickly than conventional fixed-geometry turbos, but with significantly more top-end power. On a virtually standard Porsche 718, fitted only with an aftermarket exhaust system featuring a sports catalytic converter, 505 hp and 471 Nm were measured at the wheels on 95 RON (91 octane) with WMI, at 1.6 bar boost.
As with all TTE turbos, durability is paramount. Every TTE6XX is multi-balanced, including high-speed VSR balancing up to 250,000 rpm, and comes with a numbered balance test report. Software tuning is required to safely utilise its full potential.
This turbo is currently used in the world’s fastest Porsche 718 on the Dragy leaderboards.
