The TTE485 IS20 is an advanced hybrid performance upgrade based on the original IHI Hitachi IS20 turbocharger for the EA888 Gen 3 (MQB) platform. This turbo delivers Stage 3 IS38-style power with excellent Spool-up and response, whilst retaining the compact IS20 base. TTE positions the TTE485 as one of the best-performing IS20 hybrids under 500 hp currently available.
For the TTE485, the original compressor wheel is replaced by a much larger and more efficient TTE billet 6+6 compressor wheel featuring Extended Tip Technology. The compressor cover is CNC-machined to ensure optimal clearances. On the exhaust side, the original turbine is replaced by a TTE 9-blade high-flow low-mass turbine, for which the turbine housing is CNC-modified. This results in lower back pressure, lower EGTs and faster Spool-up.
In addition, TTE fits a CNC-machined silencer delete to the turbo exhaust, removing the internal silencer for improved flow and a sportier sound. The TTE 360° upgrade thrust bearing enhances durability under higher loads. Each turbo is multi-balanced, including high-speed VSR balancing up to 250,000 rpm, and supplied with a numbered balance test report. Software recalibration is required.
Please note: When fitting, it must be an original IHI Hitachi IS20 (not a Continental). Vehicles with Continental turbos are only compatible with a new TTE485.
