The TurboSystems Hybrid Stage 0 turbo is an upgrade turbo for the IS38 found in, amongst others, the Audi S3 8V, Volkswagen Golf 7R and Seat Leon Cupra fitted with the 2.0 TSI/TFSI engine. The Stage 0 is designed for maximum durability combined with a slight improvement in performance, whilst retaining the original dimensions.
To eliminate the weaknesses of the original IS38, which frequently fails following engine tuning, TurboSystems has developed a bespoke, reinforced compressor wheel with a stronger rear section, replaced the original slide bearing system with a dual ceramic ball bearing assembly, fitted an enlarged shaft and installed a newly designed 9-blade turbine wheel to ensure a high exhaust gas flow.
The turbo is available as a complete Stage 0 turbo or as a Stage 0 Super Core: a fully assembled CHRA that fits directly onto the original IHI IS38 turbine housing, supplied without the turbine housing. Both versions are available in OEM style, visually indistinguishable from the original, or in Turbosystems style with the distinctive gloss black compressor housing.
